Effects of Naloxone and Morphine upon Serum ACTH and GH Concentrations in Normal Adult Female Rat

Abstract
In order to assess whether endogenous opioids and their specific opiate receptor antagonist, naloxone are involved in the regulation of ACTH and GH, we examined the effects of administration of naloxone and morphine on normal adult female rats.
Naloxone incited the increase of serum ACTH levels, whereas suppressed the increase of serum GH levels.
On the other hand, morphine stimulated the decrease of seum ACTH levels, and incited the increase of serum GH levels. I conclude that opiates and their antagonists involve in the regulation of ACTH and GH reversely.
